News Update: Johnny Manziel Commends Marcel Reed’s Growth, Says Young QB Will Thrive with Full Offseason to Sharpen Skills and Build Chemistry

Former Texas A&M star and Heisman winner Johnny Manziel has high praise for sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed, calling him a “talented young QB” who’s poised to make major strides this offseason.

“He’s got the tools. What he needed was time and now he’s got it,” Manziel said in a recent interview. “You’ll see a different player this fall.”
Reed, who transferred from Ole Miss last year, is expected to compete for the starting job in 2025. After spending the spring refining his mechanics and building chemistry with his teammates, insiders say he’s shown strong leadership and poise.

Manziel also praised Reed’s calm demeanor and confidence, adding, “If he keeps stacking good days, the wins will come.”
With the quarterback competition heating up in College Station, Reed could be a breakout name to watch this season and he’s got Johnny Football’s seal of approval.
