GREAT NEWS: Amani Jenkins, Virginia Tech WBB Lands Commitment from Five-Star Prospect No.1 Player in America Chooses Hokies Over Kentucky, Alabama and Louisville…

In a significant development for Virginia Tech’s women’s basketball program, Amani Jenkins, a 6-foot-2 forward from Johnston, Iowa, has committed to the Hokies. The four-star recruit, ranked No. 82 nationally by ESPNW’s HoopGurlz, chose Virginia Tech over offers from Kentucky, Alabama, and Louisville. Jenkins had previously committed to Marquette but reopened her recruitment following the hiring of head coach Megan Duffy, who had been an assistant at Marquette.

Jenkins is known for her versatility and scoring ability. During her senior season at Johnston High School, she averaged 14.5 points and 9 rebounds per game, shooting 54% from the field and 81% from the free-throw line. She also contributed 22 assists, 14 blocks, and 13 steals, showcasing her all-around game.

The Hokies’ 2025 recruiting class is shaping up to be a strong one. In addition to Jenkins, Virginia Tech has secured commitments from guard Kate Sears and forward Aniya Trent. Trent, a 6-foot-2 forward from Springboro, Ohio, chose the Hokies over offers from Clemson, Washington, and Penn State. Sears, a 5-foot-9 guard from Boone, North Carolina, is also a highly regarded prospect.

Jenkins’ commitment is a testament to the recruiting prowess of Coach Duffy and her staff. Since taking over the program, Duffy has made significant strides in rebuilding the roster and bringing in top-tier talent. The addition of Jenkins adds depth and skill to the Hokies’ frontcourt and bolsters their prospects for the future.

Virginia Tech fans are excited about the potential of the 2025 class and the direction of the program under Coach Duffy’s leadership. With Jenkins and her fellow recruits set to join the team, the Hokies are poised to compete at a high level in the ACC and on the national stage.
