In a groundbreaking moment that underscores the evolving dynamics of college athletics, Florida State Seminoles Volleyball Head Coach Chris Poole has officially turned down a record-setting $224 million NIL offer from the University of Kentucky. Despite the historic financial proposal, Poole made his intentions clear with a heartfelt declaration: “My loyalty lies with the Seminoles. This is home.”

Poole, who recently finalized a $125 million NIL agreement with Florida State, emphasized that his commitment to the program goes beyond monetary value. “I’ve invested years into building this program into a national contender,” Poole said. “The relationships, the culture, and the mission we’ve created here can’t be measured in dollars.” His decision not only reaffirms his deep connection to Tallahassee but also sends a powerful message about loyalty in an increasingly competitive NIL landscape.

Over the years, Chris Poole has transformed Florida State Volleyball into one of the ACC’s most respected programs. His leadership has led to numerous NCAA Tournament appearances, ACC titles, and the development of some of the sport’s brightest young stars. Known for his disciplined coaching style and genuine care for his players, Poole has created a culture of success rooted in unity, hard work, and integrity.

Kentucky’s offer reportedly included not only a massive NIL package but also promises of enhanced facilities, total control over program operations, and a national branding campaign. Yet, Poole chose stability over splash. “This program is part of who I am,” he said. “We’ve built something lasting here. I’m not finished, and neither are the Seminoles.”

Florida State Athletic Director Michael Alford praised Poole for his steadfast dedication to the university and its student-athletes. “Chris Poole represents the heart and soul of our athletics program,” Alford said. “His decision to remain with us speaks volumes about the character and vision he brings to FSU every single day. We are proud and honored to continue building with him.”
