Breaking News: Blue Cain, a player for the Georgia Bulldogs men’s football team, has been named the national player of the year by athletic news.

In a stunning announcement, Blue Cain, a standout guard for the University of Georgia Bulldogs men’s basketball team, has been honored as the National Player of the Year by Athletic News. This prestigious accolade recognizes Cain’s exceptional performance during the 2024–25 season.

Throughout the 2024–25 season, Cain emerged as a cornerstone for the Bulldogs. Starting all 33 games, he averaged 9.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting 41.5% from the field and 34.1% from beyond the arc. His free-throw shooting was particularly impressive, connecting on 84.1% of his attempts, ranking him among Georgia’s all-time single-season leaders .

 

Cain’s consistency was evident throughout the season. He recorded 18 double-figure scoring performances, including two double-doubles, showcasing his all-around game. Notably, his scoring average increased during Southeastern Conference (SEC) play, reflecting his ability to elevate his game against top-tier competition .

 

Before his collegiate success, Cain was recognized as one of the nation’s premier prep shooting guards. He played his senior year at IMG Academy in Florida, averaging 12.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, while shooting 61.1% from the field and 45.1% from three-point range. His performance earned him first-team All-NIBC honors and solidified his status as a top-100 recruit .

Cain initially committed to Georgia Tech but decommitted following coaching changes. He ultimately chose the University of Georgia, citing the strong relationship with the coaching staff and the program’s vision for his development. His decision was a significant boost for the Bulldogs’ recruiting efforts.
