In a historic achievement for Kentucky Wildcats basketball, junior guard Otega Oweh has been honored with both the 2025 Bob Cousy Award and the Midseason Wooden Award. These prestigious accolades recognize Oweh as the nation’s top point guard and the most outstanding college basketball player at the season’s midpoint, respectively.
Oweh’s journey to these honors began at the University of Oklahoma, where he showcased his skills before transferring to Kentucky. Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 215 lbs, Oweh brought a blend of size, athleticism, and versatility to the Wildcats’ backcourt. His impact was immediate, becoming a cornerstone of Kentucky’s offense and defense.
During the 2024–25 season, Oweh led the Wildcats with an average of 15.6 points per game, along with 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.6 steals. His shooting efficiency was remarkable, boasting a 49.4% field goal percentage and a 75% free throw rate. Notably, he scored in double figures in all 21 games, a testament to his consistency and reliability.
