BREAKING: South Carolina Gamecocks standout Jaylen Brown stuns fans with a major reveal; he’s pledging $25 million to create a haven for stray dogs, aiming to provide care, love, and homes for thousands of abandoned puppies.

In a surprising and heartwarming announcement, South Carolina Gamecocks standout Jaylen Brown has pledged a staggering $25 million to build a sanctuary for stray and abandoned dogs. The wide receiver, known for his speed and toughness on the field, is now showing fans a softer, deeply compassionate side off the gridiron.
Brown made the announcement at a press conference hosted on the South Carolina campus, where he detailed his plans to construct a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a safe haven for thousands of dogs in need. “This isn’t just about rescuing dogs,” Brown explained. “It’s about giving them a second chance, about love, care, and showing the world that these animals deserve more.”
The project, tentatively called “Jaylen’s Paws & Refuge,” will be located just outside Columbia and is expected to span several acres. The sanctuary will include veterinary clinics, recovery areas, outdoor play zones, and adoption suites designed to help dogs transition into new homes. It will also employ trained staff and volunteers committed to rehabilitation and rehoming efforts.
Brown’s inspiration for the initiative comes from a childhood experience with a stray dog his family adopted. “That dog changed our lives,” he said. “He came from the street, but once we gave him a home, he gave us loyalty, protection, and joy every single day. I want more people to experience that bond—and more dogs to find the families they deserve.”
In addition to the physical facility, Jaylen’s initiative will feature educational programming throughout local schools and communities. These programs will teach children and adults about animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Brown said he hopes this work will help prevent the root causes of pet abandonment in the future.
