Arizona Wins Big 12 Baseball Championship: The Arizona Wildcats Secured the Bug 12 Baseball Championship Title With a 2-1 extra inning victory over TCU Horned Frogs

The Arizona Wildcats clinched their first Big 12 Baseball Championship in dramatic fashion, defeating the TCU Horned Frogs 2–1 in 10 innings at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. This victory marks Arizona’s second consecutive conference tournament title, following their Pac-12 triumph in 2024.

Trailing 1–0 entering the ninth inning, the Wildcats were down to their final three outs when outfielder Andrew Cain launched a game-tying solo home run to right field. In the top of the 10th, Mason White was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a single by Emilio Guzman, and scored the go-ahead run on Maddox Mihalakis’ RBI single to right-center.

Arizona’s pitching staff delivered a stellar performance, with starter Smith Bailey allowing just one run over 5.1 innings. The bullpen trio of Casey Hintz, Garrett Hicks, and Tony Pluta combined for 4.2 scoreless innings, with Pluta earning the win.

Shortstop Mason White was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, highlighting his significant contributions throughout the championship run.

With this victory, the Wildcats secured the Big 12’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking their fifth consecutive postseason appearance. They are set to compete in the Eugene Regional, opening against Cal Poly.
