Alabama’s season opener against Florida State is scheduled to kick off in primetime, setting the stage for a high-profile matchup…

The 2025 college football season is set to commence with a marquee matchup as the Alabama Crimson Tide face off against the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday, August 30. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee and will be broadcast nationally on ABC, serving as the centerpiece of the network’s opening-week triple-header.

This encounter marks the sixth meeting between these two storied programs, with Alabama holding a 3–1–1 advantage in the all-time series. Their most recent clash occurred in 2017 during the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta, where the Crimson Tide secured a 24–7 victory. Notably, this will be Alabama’s first-ever visit to Tallahassee, adding historical significance to the season opener.

For Florida State, the game represents the debut of the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles have undergone significant changes in the offseason, including the addition of 35 new players and a revamped coaching staff. Head coach Mike Norvell enters his sixth year at the helm, with Gus Malzahn taking over as offensive coordinator and Tony White as defensive coordinator.

Alabama, under the leadership of second-year head coach Kalen DeBoer, aims to build upon the foundation laid in his inaugural season. The Crimson Tide’s 2025 schedule is formidable, featuring non-conference matchups against Florida State and Wisconsin, as well as a challenging Southeastern Conference slate.

The season opener is part of a broader showcase of SEC vs. ACC matchups during the opening weekend. Preceding the Alabama–Florida State game, Tennessee will face Syracuse at noon, and the day will conclude with LSU taking on Clemson at 7:30 p.m., both also airing on ABC.
