BREAKING: Ex Boise Broncos Star Avery Howell Makes Stunning Move to New Team Through Transfer Portal…

In a surprising development, former Boise High School basketball star Avery Howell has announced her decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal, marking a significant shift in her collegiate basketball journey.
Howell, a 6-foot guard from Boise, Idaho, made the announcement via her Instagram account on April 3, 2025. During her freshman year at the University of Southern California (USC), she averaged 7.5 points per game, shooting 43% from the field, including a team-high 40% from three-point range, and 83% from the free-throw line. Her performance earned her increased playing time, especially after star guard JuJu Watkins suffered an ACL tear in the NCAA Tournament’s second round, leading Howell to start USC’s final two games in the tournament .
Before her tenure at USC, Howell had an illustrious high school career. She was a two-time Gatorade Idaho Girls Basketball Player of the Year, averaging 21.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.9 steals per game in her senior year, leading Boise High to a 24-2 record and a third-place finish at the state tournament.
