BREAKING: Five-Star Guard Shocks Virginia Hokies With Decommit and Flip Commitment To Tennessee Over Kentucky and Georgia…

In a significant development in the 2025 college basketball recruiting landscape, five-star guard Kennedy Henry has decommitted from Virginia Tech and committed to the University of Tennessee. This decision comes amidst a series of departures from the Hokies’ program, including the recent entry of sophomore guard Brandon Rechsteiner into the transfer portal .

Henry, a standout from Blair Academy in New Jersey, had previously committed to Virginia Tech in June 2022 under then-head coach Kenny Brooks. Following Brooks’ move to Kentucky, there was speculation that Henry might follow, especially after other former Hokies’ commits transitioned to the Wildcats . However, Henry’s commitment to Tennessee underscores the Volunteers’ growing influence in recruiting top-tier talent.

Tennessee’s head coach, Rick Barnes, has been instrumental in assembling a formidable 2025 class. The addition of Henry, known for her scoring prowess and defensive capabilities, bolsters a class that already includes four-star guard Amari Evans .

Henry’s decision is a notable setback for Kentucky and Georgia, both of whom were in contention for her commitment. For Tennessee, this acquisition not only enhances their roster but also signals their rising prominence in the Southeastern Conference’s recruiting battles.
