In a significant boost to South Carolina’s women’s basketball program, head coach Dawn Staley has secured the transfer of Ta’Niya Latson, the NCAA’s leading scorer from the 2024–25 season. Latson, who averaged 25.2 points per game at Florida State, announced her move to the Gamecocks earlier this week.

Coach Staley expressed her excitement on social media, stating, “A birdie just flew in the nest,” signaling the addition of Latson to the team’s roster.

Latson’s arrival reunites her with former high school teammate Raven Johnson, enhancing the team’s chemistry and backcourt strength. With this addition, South Carolina aims to build upon its recent successes and contend for another national championship in the upcoming season.
