JUST IN: Portland 6’10” 4-Star Transfer Prospect Austin Rapp Commits to Wisconsin … See More

In a significant boost to their roster, the Wisconsin Badgers have secured a commitment from 6-foot-10 forward Austin Rapp, a transfer from the University of Portland. Rapp, originally from Melbourne, Australia, brings a versatile skill set to Madison, having been named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year during his tenure with the Pilots.

During his freshman season at Portland, Rapp averaged 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Notably, he demonstrated his shooting prowess by connecting on 35.2% of his three-point attempts, making 83 shots from beyond the arc—a figure that ranked second among all freshmen nationally.

Rapp’s decision to join Wisconsin came after considering offers from several programs, including Michigan, Iowa, Oregon, and Clemson. Expressing his enthusiasm, Rapp stated, “I couldn’t be more excited to become a Wisconsin Badger. I’ve grown up watching basketball and remember watching the Frank Kaminsky Final Four team at Wisconsin. I’ve always dreamed about playing for a successful and winning program and there couldn’t get one better than Wisconsin.”

Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard highlighted Rapp’s fit within the team’s system, noting, “He’s a big-time shooter at the stretch-4 position and will fit really well with how we play and who we are as a program.”

Rapp’s addition is part of Wisconsin’s strategic efforts to bolster their frontcourt depth, especially following the departures of key players. With three years of eligibility remaining, Rapp is expected to make an immediate impact and contribute significantly to the Badgers’ pursuit of success in the upcoming seasons.
