Just In: Ole Miss Rebels Head Coach Highlights that a Top Recruit is Set to Potentially Start At Cornerback and Also Play As a Wide Receiver …A Dual-Role Capability…

In an innovative move, Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin has announced that five-star recruit Caleb Cunningham is being considered for a dual-role position on the team. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver from Choctaw County, Mississippi, is set to potentially start at cornerback while also contributing as a wide receiver—a strategy that showcases his exceptional versatility and athleticism.

Cunningham dominated in Mississippi, earning a spot on the Clarion Ledger’s Dandy Dozen. He flipped his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss in November 2024, making him a pivotal addition to the Rebels’ 2025 recruiting class.

This dual-role strategy reflects Ole Miss’s commitment to maximizing Cunningham’s versatility, allowing the team to utilize his talents on both sides of the ball. As a cornerback, he would enhance the team’s defensive capabilities, leveraging his speed and agility to disrupt opposing offenses. On offense, his skills as a wide receiver could provide the Rebels with a dynamic weapon, creating mismatches against defenders.

Ole Miss has a history of successfully transitioning players between positions. Notably, Miles Battle began his college career as a wide receiver before moving to cornerback, where he earned All-SEC honors and went on to a professional career.
