Breaking News: It’s Official – “He’s Back” Ole Miss star player Akele Stone has reached a two-year agreement worth up to $88.9 million with the university, aiming to complete what he began.

In a move that has thrilled Ole Miss fans, defensive tackle Akelo Stone has officially announced his return to the Rebels for the 2025 season. Stone has agreed to a two-year contract valued at up to $88.9 million, underscoring his pivotal role in Ole Miss’s defensive lineup.

Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 285 pounds, Stone transferred to Ole Miss from Georgia Tech in 2023. In his first season with the Rebels, he played in 12 games, starting one, and recorded 27 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, and a pass breakup. His performance earned him recognition as Ole Miss’s third-highest-rated defender, with a Pro Football Focus grade of 77.2, and the second-best run defense grade among defensive linemen at 79.4.

Despite a lower body injury that limited his playtime in 2024, Stone contributed 14 tackles, one pass deflection, and 1.5 sacks. His decision to return for a sixth season provides a significant boost to Ole Miss’s defensive front, especially with the departure of key players to the NFL Draft.

Head coach Lane Kiffin expressed enthusiasm about Stone’s return, stating, “Akelo’s leadership and experience are invaluable to our defense. His commitment to improving each season sets a standard for our team.”

Stone’s contract, which includes substantial performance incentives, reflects his importance to the team and the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics.
