BREAKING: Arizona State Basketball Head coach Send. crystal Clear Part Ways Message To a High Rated Player Concerning His Off Attent…

In a decisive move underscoring Arizona State University’s commitment to discipline and team integrity, head men’s basketball coach Bobby Hurley announced the departure of leading scorer BJ Freeman from the program. This decision, revealed on February 23, 2025, follows a series of conduct-related issues involving Freeman, culminating in his suspension for detrimental behavior prior to his dismissal.

Freeman, who transferred from Milwaukee where he earned All-Horizon League honors, had been a pivotal player for the Sun Devils, averaging 13.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists over 25 games this season. Despite his on-court contributions, the program prioritized adherence to its standards and values, leading to the difficult decision to part ways with the high-scoring guard.

The Sun Devils have faced challenges this season, holding a 13-14 record and standing second-to-last in the Big 12. Freeman’s departure adds to the adversity, but the team demonstrated resilience in their recent 66-54 victory over Kansas State, with freshman Jayden Quaintance stepping up to lead the offense.

This development highlights Coach Hurley’s commitment to maintaining a culture of accountability and discipline within the Arizona State basketball program, reinforcing that individual talent does not supersede the team’s core principles.
