Breaking News: A Seasoned Ohio State Buckeyes Men Basketball Player Has Unexpectedly Terminated His Contract With Team Disregarding His Position on The Roster…

In an unexpected development, Ohio State men’s basketball guard Meechie Johnson Jr. has stepped away from the team to address a personal matter. The university announced that Johnson’s absence began prior to the game against Valparaiso on December 17, 2024, and there is currently no timetable for his return.

Johnson, a senior, has been a key contributor this season, starting all 10 games and averaging 9.1 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per contest. His departure adds to the Buckeyes’ challenges, as they are already dealing with a depleted backcourt due to injuries.
Head coach Jake Diebler expressed support for Johnson during this period, stating, “He and I have been having some dialogue here the last couple of days. He wasn’t able to practice the last couple of days. … I know how important family is to him. And he’s really important to me, so we’re just supporting him through this.”

In Johnson’s absence, freshman guard John Mobley Jr. has stepped into the starting lineup, bringing an average of 12.1 points per game and a 54% shooting rate from three-point range. The Buckeyes will rely on Mobley and other backcourt players to fill the void as Johnson attends to his personal matters.
